Have you ever
wanted to get started in the exciting world of model aviation but didn’t know
where to start or where to learn to build/fly radio controlled (RC) airplanes?
How about going to a summer day camp where you will learn the basics of building
and flying RC planes. DC/RC Model Airplane club is pleased to offer this
opportunity to interested young future pilots.
The purpose of the
radio control airplane flying camp is to provide a week-long day camp to the
local community with the intent of teaching young people basic aspects of model
aviation, provide flight instruction in a safe manner, and teach model building
skills.
DC/RC model
airplane club is an Academy of Model Aeronautics (AMA) chartered club that is a
respected pioneer in field of model aviation. The club has experienced flight
instructors, craftsmen builders and a beautiful, safe flying field (Walt Good
field) at the Montgomery County Model Airpark
The camp is intended for
ages 12 and older only:
What you will
learn: The camp is designed to expose
the student to the construction techniques required to build an Almost Ready To
Fly (ARF) trainer aircraft, the methods required for safe model plane operation,
and hands-on flight instruction on provided trainer aircraft by club flight
instructors.
What is provided:
Flight certified trainer aircraft for flight instruction, ARF plane kits for
construction, fuel, flight line equipment, building supplies and refreshments
When the Camp is:
July 28th
to August 1st 8:00 am- 12:00 am.
Where the airfield is
located: I-270 North from
Washington, take exit 10, Clopper Road, then go approx 6 miles, make a left on
Schaeffer Road, which is the first left after MD route 118. The Walt Good R/C
Field entrance is about 3.5 miles on the left (just after the one lane bridge).
